That day was as perfect
As a star being born
I picked you up
You brought your dog
We talked and talked
Music playing in the background
As we drove to the bleak wilds
Beyond Heptonstall
The untamed wilderness
Between Yorkshire and Lancashire
Where only the bravest dare venture
But we did, we dared to venture
Out into the cold biting winds
That the sun could not warm
We waded through mud and
Battled our way to the
Rocks at Gorple and beyond
Before turning back and making
Our way down to the calm
Of the reservoir at Widdop
Where we sat and drank beer
Before one final climb over the
Wild moor, back to the car
And back home. A perfect day
That I never wanted to end had
To like all things in life do
