We went to say goodnight, maybe forever
I felt your arm embrace my body
Your fingers touching my neck
Your cheek pressing into mine
And for a moment we became one
Two people oblivious to the world
Bombs dropped, fires raged
But we didn’t notice any of it
As we held each other tightly
Hugging each other for an eternity
People watched us, we didn’t care
We didn’t even know they were there
Until we parted, looked into
Each others eyes and said goodnight
