In my younger days I was a rock scrabble climber here in the eastern USA, and never aspired to anything as challenging as Everest or K2 – but I recently saw a picture of a traffic jam of people climbing Everest, to me that’s just not climbing. Hopefully K2 would be less crowded.

Totally agree with you. Everest has turned into a tourist hotspot now. K2 is much harder to climb so the companies who run the climbs for tourists dare not risk taking them up there as most won’t come back!
