The mobile phone

What technology would you be better off without, why?

Probably the same as most people, for me it’s the mobile phone. Whilst it has it’s uses it is too much of a distraction and takes up too much of my time. People may say that I’m in charge of it but I often wonder if it is in charge of me…

  1. Interesting take… I would never want to go back to a world without a mobile phone, largely because as a single woman who likes to travel and has long commutes, having a mobile phone is a huge sense of security. If there’s an emergency, help is only a phone call away.

Smartphone, on the other hand, I do see the point there. When the phone can do just about anything, people lose hours to it. I generally don’t, but I’m definitely in the minority there. Too much of my time is spent doing crafty things, writing, and other things that the smartphone can’t help with for me to lose that much time.

    1. That is a really good point and one I hadn’t considered. I’m so used to using a smartphone that it’s become the norm for me, and I’ve forgotten about the simple but very useful mobile phone. I agree with you. A mobile phone is very useful; it’s the smartphone that is the problem.
